A Basic Overview of the Hole in the Ozone Layer Crisis

In the 1970s a group of scientists discovered a hole in the Ozone Layer above Antarctica. Since then the amount of ozone has dropped from 350 DU's to 100 DU's. The ozone has been depleted by the use of certain chemicals; these chemicals are chlorofluorocarbons, or CFC's, and halons. Our only hope of preventing further depletion of the Ozone Layer is to create new ozone, chemically fix the hole, and/or greatly minimize the use of chlorofluorocarbons among other things.
